PokerRoom Back in Business

PokerRoom, one of the original pioneers in online real money cash poker games, is back in business. They announced today that they are again accepting real money clients. This comes after several weeks of speculation about whether or not the site was actually going to open.

The initial Tweet from bwin SEO Josef Rantamaki was the first public notice of PokerRoom’s intention. This was soon followed by a comment from PokerRoom.com stating that Rantamaki had spoken too soon. What followed were vague references and hints that the company was planning on reopening, but nothing definite was ever said.

Now that PokerRoom is back in business it will be interesting to see if they can climb back to the top of the online poker rooms. PokerRoom was one of the first sites to offer real money online Texas Holdem. The site debuted back in 1999. It was instrumental in creating the standard for online poker rooms.

During the poker boom, PokerRoom was recognized as a leader in software development as well as one of the safest and most respected sites online. It was the first poker site to be awarded the Ecrograv seal of approval. Both of these facts will be important when new players are looking to find a site.

While some might think that now is not a great time to relaunch a poker site, it might be an opportune time for PokerRoom. After Black Friday, the U.S. poker market is no longer a viable option for most companies. PokerRoom is going to have to limit its player base to European, Canadian, and other Non-U.S. players.

However, once legislation does pass in the U.S., PokerRoom is going to be one of the few recognized brands that will be allowed to get a license. The assumption is that PokerStars, which had been the biggest provider for U.S. players, is going to be barred due to their problems with the DOJ. The same can be said of Full Tilt Poker.

PokerStars is also having a different set of problems in the global poker market. New rake changes have led many full time grinders to look elsewhere. PokerRoom is sure to benefit from this exodus of players.

The new PokerRoom website is already up and running. They are advertising player deposit bonuses as well as a player loyalty program. This is all great news for players looking for a new and trustworthy site to play on.

PokerRoom Tweet Causes Buzz in the Online Poker Community

SEO of bwin made a faux pas with what might be news that may be too soon to announce. It was announced via twitter last week that one of the original online poker playing websites, PokerRoom, would be making a comeback.

The tweet that was originally made through the popular social media network was viewed by thousands and caused players to question whether the site was coming back as one of the online poker greats, or whether the tweet was a mistake. Taken down, we wonder what prompted the tweet to be made and if there is indeed a chance that the original poker website could be restored for players in the US and around the globe.

Now, it’s ten days later and there is still no official word as to whether the poker site is going to be back up and running for players to make their deposits, let alone no word of when we might be able to register to play.

Speculation has been made through the online poker community of the status of the website and whether it’s going to be opened in the New Year. Sources have confirmed that the website operators would be open to the idea of the reopening of the website, but they have not confirmed or denied whether PokerRoom is going to open for business and accept new players.

Ongame has kept mum on the subject and has not confirmed that the website is going to become part of the fifth ranked gaming network. Players and poker news fanatics are being kept in the dark as to whether there is going to be an imminent return of the poker site.

For now, the site remains under construction with no banners, no hint of whether the site is going to reopen and no online poker playing capabilities. Looks like players are going to have to wait to see what 2012 has in store for PokerRoom.com.
